Prepare the Binding and Purfling Materials


In this lesson we will prepare the binding and purfling materials.

Make sure you have read this lesson all the way through before beginning the lesson.


In this photo you can see the rosewood off-cut from the sides, two white veneers and the middle veneer. The green veneer is for a Hauser, but for the Rodriguez brown or rosewood will be used.(I forgot to take these photos, that is why you see the green veneer..Oops)

The veneers are clamped between two wooden scraps about 3 feet long. Face the gluing surface of the boards with clear packing tape, then rub them with some wax from a candle or parafin.

Glue them up and use plenty of clamps.

Cut .095" wide strips off the binding block.
