Trim and Taper Sides to Final Height.
In this lesson we will trim and taper the sides to final height.
Make sure you have read this lesson all the way through before beginning the lesson. A word of advice is to practice on scrap.
| From the waist to the tail the side height should equal 104mm measuring from the inside of the soundboard to the top of the side. If you are a couple mm's short don't worry about it. We can build that up with the back linings. Next, taper the waist (104mm) to the heel to 100mm. Do not shave the foot or heel down to this measurement! Use a chisel and hand plane. | |
| Next, taper the waist (104mm) to the heel to 100mm. Do not shave the heel down to this measurement. It need to be several milimeters proud of this measurement. Use a chisel and hand plane. In the photo I am measuring from the solera so I have to add 2mm. If you decide to measure from the solera remember to add 2mm for the top thickness. |
