Online Apprentice-
Taper the Fingerboard to Final Outline

In this lesson we will taper the fingerboard to the final outline.

Make sure you have read this lesson all the way through before beginning the lesson.

First draw a centerline down the middle of the board. Then mark your desired fingerboard width at the nut and 12th fret locations.

Use a plane and remove the excess material.

Clamp the fingerboard to the neck. Then put a straight edge on each side of the fingerboard.

The straigh edges should have an equal distance from the center line of the top at the tail end of the guitar.

Once you get the alignment right drill two holes in the first and eleventh frets with a No.52 wire drill bit. Drill all the way through the fingerboard and about 1/8th of an inch into the neck. Then get four large size paper clips and straighten them out and stick them in the holes to hold the fingerboard.
